Which ingredients can I choose?
Flour, sugar, butter, rice and water. Each one carries a density, and the conversion between grams and cups depends entirely on that.
Can I convert cups into grams instead?
Yes. Swap the two unit menus. The ingredient stays where it is, and the same density is applied in the other direction.
Why not use a single cup-to-gram number?
Because it would only be right for one ingredient. A cup of flour and a cup of sugar are different weights, so a single figure would mislead.
Does anything about my recipe get sent?
No. The amounts and the ingredient are handled by the page you already have open, and nothing is transmitted or stored.
Going from weight back to volume
Weighing is the accurate way round, but recipes are often written in cups. Name the ingredient, put the grams in, and the cup figure comes back at that density.
- The ingredient is the setting that matters here; the amount on its own is not enough to convert.
- Cups, spoons and milliliters are volume; grams and ounces are weight, and density joins them.
- Rounded figures are what you get, which suits measuring cups better than long decimals.
