Frequently asked questions
Which seven cases are there?
Upper, lower, title and sentence case for prose, and camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case for identifiers in code and file names.
What is the difference between title and sentence case?
Title case capitalizes the words. Sentence case capitalizes the opening and leaves the rest in lower case, the way an ordinary sentence reads.
Does it handle accents and Chinese?
The conversion is Unicode-aware, so accented letters follow the same rules as plain ones. Scripts with no upper and lower forms, Chinese among them, are left as they are.
Is my text uploaded to convert it?
No. The conversion runs in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a processing server and nothing is kept in an account.
Picking the right case
Paste a line or a page, choose the case you want, and read the result beside it. Seven forms are offered, from plain upper and lower to the joined-up forms code uses.
- camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case exist for identifiers; which one you want is usually decided by the language or the project.
- Sentence case reads more calmly than title case in interface copy and error messages.
- Converting to upper and back does not restore the original capitals, so keep the source if it matters.
- Check names and acronyms after any conversion; a rule that works on a sentence will flatten them.
