How does fancy text work if Instagram doesn’t allow formatting?
Apps like Instagram display Unicode characters but not formatting. This tool replaces each letter with a visually similar character from a different Unicode alphabet (e.g. mathematical bold 'A'). The app just shows a different character, not styled text.
Why do some styles show as boxes or question marks?
A box means the device lacks a font for that character. Bold, italic and monospace work on most modern phones. More decorative styles may fail on older devices. Always test the style on your target platform before posting.
Can I use fancy text in my Instagram username?
No. Instagram usernames allow only letters, numbers, full stops and underscores. Your display name and bio accept Unicode, so put the styled text there. TikTok and X follow the same pattern: plain handle, styled display name.
Is fancy text bad for accessibility?
Yes. Screen readers may read styled text letter-by-letter (e.g., “mathematical bold A”), making it hard to understand. Use fancy text for short names or single lines only, and keep main content in plain text for accessibility.
Is my text sent anywhere?
