Frequently asked questions

Does the document leave my device?

No. The PDF is opened and rewritten in your browser. No server receives it, which is the point: a contract or a bank statement never becomes someone else's file.

Can I add a password, or take one off?

Protect PDF sets a password on a file you own. Unlock PDF removes a password you already know and can type. Neither guesses or breaks a password you do not have.

What does compressing a PDF cost in quality?

That is your choice. One mode rewrites the file and every word stays selectable. The other redraws each page as a picture for a much smaller file, and the text stops being searchable. If the result comes out bigger, you keep the original.
