Frequently asked questions
Is this really a font?
No. Nothing is installed and no font file exists. Each letter is swapped for a Unicode character that already looks bold, script or gothic, which is why a field that forbids formatting still shows it.
Why do some styles show as empty boxes?
The device has no glyph for that character. Bold, italic and monospace are safe on current phones; decorative styles can fail on older machines. Paste into a draft on the target app first.
Can I put a styled font in my username?
Instagram usernames take only letters, numbers, full stops and underscores, so no. Display names and bios do accept these characters. TikTok and X work the same way.
Does this hurt screen readers?
Yes. A screen reader may spell out each character by its Unicode name, which is hard to follow. Keep styled text to a short name or one line and leave the rest plain.
What survives the paste
These are not fonts. Each style swaps your letters for Unicode characters that already look bold, script or gothic, so they survive a paste into a bio field that allows no formatting.
- Bold, italic and monospace render on the widest range of devices, including older desktops.
- Bubbles and squares break first, appearing as empty boxes where a device has no glyph for them.
- The character counter matters for bios: an Instagram bio stops at 150 characters.
- Nothing is installed, so the same styles are there on any device that opens this page.
