Can I edit the destination afterwards?

No. A static code holds one address for good. Changing where it points means generating a new code and replacing the artwork.

Do you count the scans?

No. Scans never reach this site, so there is nothing here to count. The code is a plain link from the camera to your page.

Does a long URL still work?

It fits, but a longer address packs more squares into the same area. Keep the printed code large enough, or trim query strings you do not need.

Getting a link code right

Paste the address you want people to land on. The code drawn from it carries that address and nothing else, so what you paste is what a phone opens.

  • Point at the final page rather than one that bounces onwards; every hop is a chance for the destination to break.
  • Check the address in a browser before encoding it. A typo becomes permanent the moment the code is printed.
  • A shorter address makes a less dense pattern, which is easier for a camera to lock onto.
  • Test the printed piece rather than the screen preview, and use more than one phone.
