Frequently asked questions
Is the URL stored in the code itself?
Yes. The address is encoded into the pattern directly. There is no redirect service and no intermediate link between the scan and your page.
Can I edit the destination afterwards?
No. A static code holds one address for good. Changing where it points means generating a new code and replacing the artwork.
Do you count the scans?
No. Scans never reach this site, so there is nothing here to count. The code is a plain link from the camera to your page.
Does a long URL still work?
It fits, but a longer address packs more squares into the same area. Keep the printed code large enough, or trim query strings you do not need.
Getting a link code right
Paste the address you want people to land on. The code drawn from it carries that address and nothing else, so what you paste is what a phone opens.
- Point at the final page rather than one that bounces onwards; every hop is a chance for the destination to break.
- Check the address in a browser before encoding it. A typo becomes permanent the moment the code is printed.
- A shorter address makes a less dense pattern, which is easier for a camera to lock onto.
- Test the printed piece rather than the screen preview, and use more than one phone.
