Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can different pages face different ways?

Yes. Select a page or a group, apply an angle, then move on to the next. All of it is written into the same output file.

Does rotating soften the text or the images?

No. The page content is not redrawn. What changes is the orientation recorded for the page, which is why nothing is lost.

Is the rotation saved, or only shown on screen?

Saved. The new PDF opens turned the way you set it, on any reader, without anyone rotating their view.

What happens to the file I opened?

It stays as it was on your device. A separate PDF is written with the rotations applied.

Background

Why Pages End Up Sideways

Rotate one page, a handful, or the whole document by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. The turn is saved into the file, so the next reader sees it the right way up.

  • A sheet fed the wrong way round into a scanner produces a page lying on its side.
  • Landscape tables are often stored rotated, which reads badly on a phone.
  • A page rotated in a reader looks fixed until someone else opens it. Saving the turn makes it stick.
  • Photographed documents inherit the orientation the camera was held at.
