Frequently asked questions

Will these numbers match my print job?

Not on their own. A press match needs the printer's own profile for that paper and ink. These are the plain sRGB numbers, which is a starting point.

Why does CMYK look duller than the screen?

Screens emit light and ink reflects it, so some screen colors have no ink equivalent. The conversion gives the nearest plain arithmetic result.

Can I load an ICC profile?

No. The panel does arithmetic on sRGB values and has no color management in it. Profiled separations belong in the software your printer specifies.

Is my color sent anywhere?

No. It is converted in this browser tab, with nothing sent to a processing server and nothing kept in an account.

Before you send it to print

The conversion is arithmetic on sRGB values. No paper, ink or press profile sits behind it, so the numbers are a starting point rather than what a print shop will match.

  • Ask the print shop which profile they work to, and convert in the software they name.
  • A rich black mixed from four inks and a plain black are different things on paper.
  • Keep the RGB values as well, since screen and print versions of a brand color often differ.
  • The swatch is your screen's rendering of the color, not a proof.
