How to use Fancy Text Generator
- 1
Type your text
Enter your name, bio line or caption. Every style below updates as you type; a sample is shown until you do.
- 2
Pick a style
Bold and italic styles work almost everywhere. Script and gothic are more decorative and best for short names. Use the character counter for bios.
- 3
Copy and paste
Tap Copy next to your chosen style, then paste it into your app. The text uses Unicode characters, not formatting, so it works anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How does fancy text work if Instagram doesn’t allow formatting?
Apps like Instagram display Unicode characters but not formatting. This tool replaces each letter with a visually similar character from a different Unicode alphabet (e.g. mathematical bold 'A'). The app just shows a different character, not styled text.
Why do some styles show as boxes or question marks?
A box means the device lacks a font for that character. Bold, italic and monospace work on most modern phones. More decorative styles may fail on older devices. Always test the style on your target platform before posting.
Can I use fancy text in my Instagram username?
No. Instagram usernames allow only letters, numbers, full stops and underscores. Your display name and bio accept Unicode, so put the styled text there. TikTok and X follow the same pattern: plain handle, styled display name.
Is fancy text bad for accessibility?
Yes. Screen readers may read styled text letter-by-letter (e.g., “mathematical bold A”), making it hard to understand. Use fancy text for short names or single lines only, and keep main content in plain text for accessibility.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The conversion is a character lookup running in your browser, and your text is never sent anywhere. If you accepted analytics cookies, copying records which style you used — never what you typed.
Why does the upside-down style read backwards?
Because that is what turning a line over does. Each letter is swapped for its flipped shape and then the whole line is reversed, so Hello World comes back as plɹoM ollǝH and reads correctly upside down.
Which styles hold up across apps
Type once and every style updates live. Each result is real text, not an image, so it works in bios, captions, comments and usernames that allow these characters.
- Bold, italic, and monospace styles are widely supported on all devices. Script and gothic are safe on phones but may fail on older desktops.
- Bubble and square styles are the most likely to appear as boxes on older devices. Always paste the result as a draft before publishing.
