How do I get a photo under 100 KB?
Drop the photo in, leave the target at 100 KB and the longest side at 1920 px, then press Download. Quality is lowered only as far as needed to fit — never below 40%.
- Works for JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC.
- Shows the final size of every file before you download.
- If a photo still can’t fit, it tells you — cap the size lower and run again.
Pick the limit your form asks for
Any other number works too: type it into the target box above. Sizes here are counted the way upload forms count them (1 KB = 1,000 bytes).

How to use Compress Image to 100 KB
- 1
Add your photos
Drop, choose or paste JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC files. A whole folder at once is fine.
- 2
Keep 100 KB
The target and a 1920 px size cap are already set. Change “each file” to “total” if the limit is for the whole upload.
- 3
Check and download
Each file shows its final size. Download one by one or as a ZIP.
What usually makes a photo miss 100 KB
- Resolution. A phone camera saves 12 MP or more; 100 KB is far too small for that many pixels at a good quality, so the size cap does most of the work.
- PNG screenshots. PNG is lossless — convert to JPG for photos and screenshots of photos.
- KB vs KiB. Some forms count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes. If a file at 99–100 KB is rejected, aim for 95 KB.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress an image to exactly 100 KB?
Add the photo, keep 100 KB and press Download. Quality is narrowed in up to six passes, never below 40%. Dimensions shrink automatically if needed.
Why does it say the target can’t be reached?
A large photo can stay over 100 KB at 40% even after resizing. The tool says so instead of overshooting. Lower the longest side (try 1280 px) and run again.
Will a 100 KB photo look blurry?
For a profile picture or an ID photo shown on screen, usually not. Fine text and busy detail show artefacts first. Check the preview before you download, and step the size cap down rather than forcing quality lower.
Can a whole batch land under 100 KB in total?
Yes. Switch “each file” to “total” and the 100 KB is shared out across the files in proportion to their size.
Can I go straight from an iPhone HEIC photo to 100 KB?
Yes. Drop the HEIC file in. It is decoded in this tab, converted to JPG and compressed to the target in one step.
JPG or WebP for a 100 KB limit?
Use JPG when a form asks for “JPG/JPEG” — most upload portals do. WebP gets the same quality at a smaller size, but some forms reject it.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Compression runs in this browser tab. Open the network panel or use airplane mode after load — it keeps working. The check is on How it works.
