Frequently asked questions
Does it follow a particular style guide?
No. It gives you a consistent title case to start from. Rules about small words, hyphenated terms and proper nouns differ between guides, so read the line before publishing it.
Title case or sentence case?
Title case suits headlines and published titles. Sentence case reads more calmly in buttons, labels and error messages, where a heading full of capitals looks loud.
What happens to my acronyms?
Check them. Any blanket case rule treats an acronym as an ordinary word, so a term that must stay in capitals may need putting back by hand.
Is my heading uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a processing server and nothing is stored in an account.
Headings that behave
Paste the heading and choose title case. Sentence case is the option beside it, which is the better fit for interface copy and error messages. Both run on the text in this tab.
- Decide once whether your headings are title case or sentence case, and hold to it across the whole page.
- Sentence case is easier to keep consistent when many people write the copy.
- Proper nouns and acronyms are the usual casualties; a quick read catches them.
- Long headings are worth shortening before casing them, since the capitals make length more obvious.
