Frequently asked questions
Do I need to include https at the front?
Yes. Write the address in full, with http or https. That is what tells a scanner it is a link and should open in a browser.
Can you tell me how many people scanned it?
No, and nothing can. The address is in the pattern itself, with no service in between, so there is nothing anywhere to count.
What does the error correction level change?
How much of the code can be damaged and still read. Higher levels add more pattern, so the squares get finer at the same printed size.
Will the code still work in a year?
It carries the address itself, so it works for as long as that address does. Nothing here expires and no account keeps it alive.
Getting a Printed Code Right
The panel opens on links. Paste the full web address and the code appears straight away. The same maker also covers Wi-Fi, contact cards, email, phone, SMS, places and calendar events.
- Point the final address at the code, not a temporary one. What is printed cannot be pointed somewhere else later.
- Scan the finished artwork with more than one phone before a print run.
- Leave clear space around the pattern. A code crowded to the edge of a design is harder to read.
- Bigger is safer on a poster read from a distance; a higher error level helps where it will be handled.
