Does it show where a photo was taken?

If the photo records it, yes. The coordinates appear in decimal degrees at the top of the result. If nothing is recorded, the page says that instead of guessing.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The file is opened in this browser tab and the tags are read here. Nothing about the image, including its location, is sent anywhere.

Why does my photo have no EXIF?

Many apps strip it. Screenshots never had any, and images saved from social platforms usually come back with the whole block removed.

Can I remove what I see here?

Yes, with the EXIF remover on this site. It writes a copy of the picture with the metadata block taken out, also without uploading anything.

What EXIF actually holds

Drop a JPEG or PNG and every tag it carries is listed: camera and lens, shutter, aperture and ISO, the date it was taken, and the coordinates if a location was recorded.

  • A location is only there if the camera or phone had it switched on.
  • Screenshots carry no EXIF at all, so an empty result is normal for one.
  • The orientation tag is why some photos appear rotated in one app and not another.
  • Sharing a photo can share the place it was taken, unless the platform strips it.
