Frequently asked questions
What does PNG output support?
PNG uses lossless encoding and supports alpha transparency.
Does PNG retain WEBP transparency?
For supported WEBP files, the decoded alpha channel is written to the output PNG.
Could the output file be larger than the input?
Yes, this is possible. WEBP often has more efficient compression than PNG. Converting a WEBP to a lossless PNG can result in a larger file size.
How many images can I add at once?
There is no fixed limit. Past about 500 MB the page warns you before it starts. Files with the same name get a number added inside the ZIP. Older browsers are told plainly that they cannot run this.
Can I get a photo under an exact size, like 200 KB?
Yes. Switch the quality control to target size, type 200 and pick KB. The page tries a range of quality settings and keeps the best one that lands under your figure.
Converting WebP to PNG
This tool decodes WebP images and re-encodes them as PNG, retaining transparency where present. Animated WebP files are converted to a static PNG of the first frame.
- Convert WebP to PNG when you need a lossless format with wider editing support. PNG offers lossless compression and full support for transparency.
- While WebP often has better compression, PNG is a reliable, high-quality alternative. Converting a compressed WebP to PNG may result in a larger file size.
